OneSecurity is an owner-operated security business based in Masterton. This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it, in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
When you get in touch through our website, by phone or by email, we may collect:
- your name, phone number and email address
- your property or business address
- details about your site, your existing system and the work you’re interested in
- anything else you choose to tell us in your message
When we carry out work, we may also keep records such as system settings, user codes, device details and job notes so we can service and support your system.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and arrange a site visit
- prepare quotes, carry out installations and provide monitoring, servicing and support
- send invoices and keep business records
- occasionally let you know about servicing or updates relevant to your system (you can ask us to stop at any time)
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your information. We only share it when we need to in order to do the job, for example with:
- monitoring centres, if you choose a monitored alarm or video monitoring service
- suppliers or manufacturers, for warranty and technical support
- our accounting software provider, for quotes and invoices
- Police or emergency services, when an alarm or monitoring event requires it, or when the law requires it
Our website
Our contact form sends your details to us through a secure form service so we can reply to you. Our website uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. This uses cookies and doesn’t tell us who you are. You can block cookies in your browser settings.
CCTV footage
Where we install CCTV for you, you are responsible for the footage your system records. If we access footage while servicing your system, we only use it for that purpose. We can help you with CCTV signage and good privacy practice for your site.
How we keep it safe
We store information in password-protected systems and only keep it for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as required by law (for example, tax records).
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected] or call 06 216 1500, and we’ll respond within 20 working days.
If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, please talk to us first. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
